Where God Doesn’t Exist

Proverbs 3:19-20

Have you been following the quest to find the “God Particle” by the physics community around the world? They hope they can find this missing particle which they know exists, because if it doesn’t exist, then their theories about how the whole universe holds together falls apart. This is important stuff for them! And even if they find this missing particle, it gets them no closer to finding out how everything got here. It only helps them explain how things work now.
And our quest into space to find alien life. Why are we doing this? We are doing this to explain God out of the equation, or so it would seem. If life exists other places, then surely we are just an accident rising from the pond scum. No need for God if life can spring up many places. Originally, we went to space as an excuse to advance technology, to beat the Russians. We have gained some knowledge that can be applied to life here on earth by going to space. Most of the knowledge was simply funded by space exploration, but could have been funded other ways, perhaps more efficiently using our money.
Why this quest to find the origins? I think our verses today give us at least part of the answer. When we reject God’s wisdom and understand, then we must come up with a system of understanding and wisdom apart from Him. The LORD designed us to solve problems, to look for solutions, to find answers. And how we got here and how the world works are two of the biggest questions around.
Our verses, if we accept them, give us a firm starting point from which to understand the universe, our world, and our interactions with God and with each other. He is the Creator. So this universe and our lives must be significantly connected to Him in some way.
We can start to understand this by seeking His wisdom and understanding. Rather than having to create a universe without God, as secularists are trying to do, we accept His role, both in creating and in sustaining. We look for His answers to these questions. His answers will do just that, answer the questions.
