21Dec 2011 Job 39:28-29

28 It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night; a rocky crag is its stronghold. 29 From there it looks for food; its eyes detect it from afar.

Today’s Reading Job 39

I love to watch an eagle in action, the slow motion video of one swooping down, lifting its lunch and carrying it away. What a design! All that coordinated action moving toward one purpose. In this chapter the LORD is pointing out just a few of these designs to Job as a way to say to him, “You can’t do this, can you!” Think about the eagle’s eyes, sharpened to notice the smallest movement thousands of feet away. They can see a rabbit running at least a mile away. They can focus both to the front and to the side at the same time. If they are 1000 feet in the air, they can scan three square miles of territory for food. Their eyesight is at least three times better than our best vision, having five times the number of cones inside the eye. They also see more colors than we do, enabling them to see through camouflage better than we do. And we are only beginning to comprehend these types of abilities. It would be like having a sniper’s rifle scope attached to our eyes all the time, one that would allow us to view two different objects at the same time, as well as scan the entire field of vision simultaneously. I think the lesson the LORD wants Job to hear is that, if he can design all these types of extraordinary abilities, He is able to take care of us. The things we see as random events God is able to use for our good. Even what we view as evil, God is able to turn around. As an example of the miracle that is contained within us, I offer a like to a presentation about the development of a human baby. Conception to Birth Visualized. Enjoy seeing God’s handiwork.
