31Oct 2011 1 Peter 4:8

8Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

God’s love took care of our sins. Sometimes it can be hard to extend that love toward others, especially when we have been the object of injustice. But remember, Peter is writing to Jesus-followers, so why would we need to love each other deeply? We certainly would not wrong a fellow Jesus-follower, would we? Just because we are believers does not mean we don’t have rough edges. It takes time for sin to be worked out of our lives. And when we are part of a body of believers, we do get close. Things will get said and done that others will take offense at. We won’t automatically get along with everyone. Not everyone will be our best friend. Our personalities still might clash. Love is needed! I know that my ‘full of energy’ personality drives some people nuts, including my wife. I have learned, or should I say, I am still learning to channel that energy in a way that honors the Lord and doesn’t draw attention to myself.
