9“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
I have two grandchildren. It is such an amazing thing to hear the development of their language. The three year old is using his language in very creative ways to express his view of the world. The innocence and wonder gets expressed in ways that open my eyes to a different way of seeing the world. My son when he was three was standing at the screen door during a thunderstorm and said, “Whose taking pictures, Mom?” He took what he know, the flash of a camera, and related it to what he was seeing outside his door. We are constantly in a struggle to explain our experiences and what we observe. Our problem is that, just like my son, our experiences are limited. The very best and brightest of us has only a small amount of the available knowledge. The LORD does not have this problem. Isaiah shows us the magnitude of the difference in knowledge between us and the LORD. He never has to guess at what is happening in the world, or the universe for that matter. Since He created it all, He knows exactly how it all works. From the subatomic to the immeasurable expanses of space, the LORD grasps it all. Nothing is a mystery to Him. But we are always looking out our screen door trying to explain the wonder of the universe with language and understanding of our living room.
