8Sept 2011 Isaiah 22:11

11You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.

It is amazing to me that people will do just about anything to not admit that they need the Lord. People believe in evolution even though there is no fossil evidence of any transitionary animals. All the billions of fossils, and not one half-this half-that animal. Only the same fossil forms steady across time, but people believe evolution so they don’t have to believe God. The people of Jerusalem are in rebellion and Isaiah is letting the people know that judgment is coming, but they are not listening to what the Lord has to say. They are preparing for a siege that has no hope of succeeding, because the Lord has decreed that it will fail. They are trying to make provision for water to survive, but they need obedience instead. If they would but repent, the Lord would make provision for their safety. But they plan and scheme in their own wisdom. We often do this in our areas of rebellion and sin. We try to figure out how we can continue to get away with it. We make up elaborate stories to hide our double life. It gets exhausting! I’m not just talking about those who are involved in adultery. I’m talking about the comfort eaters who go for the calories instead of to the Lord. I’m talking about the go-go-goers who keep so busy they don’t have to wrestle with their thoughts before God. Or those who spend all their money on “now” without any financial wisdom.
