1King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.
Solomon had everything anyone could ever want. He had wealth, wisdom, influence, standing…. He was missing nothing. And yet he could not remain faithful in marriage. This sounds like some of the celebrities of our day, doesn’t it! They have billion dollar careers, and they throw it away for a romp in the hay. The nature of humans has not changed over these thousands of years. Women still throw themselves at powerful men, and powerful men still throw away their marriages. What a waste! Solomon did not get the negative consequences of his womanizing. His descendents did. They lost all but one of the tribes. Their kingdom and influence was drastically cut. Their income from tributes and taxes almost disappeared. They became only a small remnant of David’s kingdom. Women, don’t throw yourselves at another man, and men, don’t accept the advances of another woman. Stay faithful to your spouse. No sexual encounter is worth the tremendous cost that waits for those who stray.
