4May 2011 1Samuel 10:6

6The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.

The Prophet Samuel has laid out a very specific series of signs for Saul to confirm that the LORD really is speaking to him. Specific numbers of men, goats, loaves of bread, and a gift are foretold. There is no way these specific things could happen by accident. It had to be the LORD. It confirmed to Saul that this was God working. The final part of the sign was this verse. Saul would be overcome by the Spirit of the LORD. When that happens he would be changed. The same thing happens to us when we become Jesus-followers. The Spirit of the LORD comes on us and we are changed. If the change does not take place, we must question the presence of the Spirit and the reality of the confession. We can’t be a Jesus-follower and not change. If we don’t change, then we are not a Jesus-follower! And that change will be noticed by people around us. It is not a secret change. It might be gradual, but it will be visible. When God is at work, change happens.
