10The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel, Samuel!” The Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
It can be difficult to know the voice of the Lord at the beginning of our walk as a believer. But it is essential that we learn that voice. We need to be able to distinguish between his voice and the many other voices that run through our heads. As we read the Scriptures, we get to know His character. He will always speak what is in line with what is revealed in the Scriptures. His character is consistent. So when He speaks today it will be in line with what He has already revealed. In our text, Samuel has been in the Lord’s service for several years. And yet, verse seven states that he did not know the Lord yet. We can go to church for years, and still not know Him. That is because being a Believer is not something we catch, it is something we act upon. Faith results in actions. And when we act, then we begin to hear His voice. We must choose to trust Him. We must choose to trust His Word.
