9because a great door for effective work has opened for me, and there are many who oppose me.
Sometimes we interpret opposition as removal of the Lord’s blessing. Paul seemed to not worry too much about opposition. He had a great opportunity to share the Gospel and there was opposition. Don’t the two often go hand in hand? I don’t know about you, but I don’t like opposition. I like the things I say and do to be accepted, to be embraced with enthusiasm. That makes me feel good. I like to be liked! But I often question myself when I face opposition, when things are not going easily. Paul saw both the opposition and the opportunity. He chose to focus on the opportunity. He did not let the opposition stop him from pursing the opportunity. Some people thrive in situations that have lots of opposing voices. I have to be honest with you, I do not. I am not a fighter. I tend to hunker down and wait for the winds to blow over. Then I stand and continue to pursue the objective. I can picture Paul standing, face into the storm, moving forward.
