31Mar 2011 Psalm 71:18

18Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, til I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.

This man has a clear sense of purpose for his life. He has a reason to get up in the morning and get to his business. Despite the difficulties he is facing in his own life that are talked about in the psalm, he still knows his purpose: telling the next generation about the Lord. Do you know your purpose in life? Do have a strong reason to get up each day and go about the mundane tasks of life? I hope it is a great and grand purpose like preparing the next generation for life and service to the Lord. Raising kids is the greatest and grandest task of life. Anyone can build a house or defend our freedom. Those tasks are important, but not as important as passing on to the next generation. I now have two grandchildren. The joy they bring me pushes me even more to make a positive difference in this world. I may not be able to be with them as much as I want, but I can positively affect their world, and so by extension positively affect their lives. I am bringing Jesus to those in my small circle of influence.
