16Mar 2011 Deuteronomy 4:6

6 Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

One of the reasons the Lord gave Israel the Law was to demonstrate the wisdom contained in them. If they kept these laws, they would serve as an example to the other nations. The other nations would see the fruit of their obedience and want to know more about the Lord. They would be drawn to the Lord through the shining example that Israel would become. Their lives would be a testimony to the greatness of the Lord. The Lord wants hearts that are inclined toward Him, that lean in and listen closely to what He has to say. That is one of the reasons for having a devotional life. When we read the Scriptures for ourselves, we are leaning in toward Him. My hearing is beginning to go, part of the aging process. I find myself leaning in toward people as they talk to make sure I hear what they are saying. I want to lean in and hear the Lord’s still small voice. I want to live a life that draws others to Him. How about you?
