17Then the Tent of Meeting and the camp of the Levites will set out in the middle of the camps. They will set out in the same order as they encamp, each in his own place under his standard.
When over two million people are on the move, there must be some organization. That is what the Lord sets up in this chapter. Perhaps the most important part of this chapter is that the Levites, those in charge of the Tabernacle, the place the Lord chose to manifest His Presence, are right in the middle of the camp and right in the middle of the march. The Lord wants to be right in the middle of our lives, not relegated to the edges or to only certain dates and times. He wants to be in the middle every moment. He wants go with us everywhere we go. The reality is that He is right in the middle whether we acknowledge Him or not. He wants us to recognize and acknowledge Him.
