22Feb 2011 Leviticus 18:3-4

3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.

The Lord now details things that will contrast someone who lives as an Israelite and all the others around them. This list sounds like many of the things that are happening here in this country. The Lord says we are not to follow their practices. We will be different than our culture. Our actions will be holy, not profane. It can be hard to live in a way that is different from the culture around you. There is so much pressure to conform, so much pressure to fit in. But as Believers we are of a different Kingdom, members of a different family and time. We live in eternity. Our family is not one that is seen, but one that is unseen. Our values reflect the values of our God. In what ways are you ‘fitting in’? Isn’t it time to be different?
