16And it will be like a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead that the LORD brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.”
Some symbols are very powerful. The symbols I experienced growing up in church did not have much meaning. Because I did not have a relationship with the Lord, everything around me lacked symbolic meaning. There were powerful symbols displayed, but to me they lacked power. For Israel, the Passover became one of their most powerful symbols. It reminded them of the past, when they were delivered from death, when the Lord killed all the firstborn in Egypt. Israel was spared by the grace of God. But the blood spilled that day by those sacrificed animals looked forward to the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. The Passover was to be an ever present reminder of whose they were. The Lord owned them. He had delivered them. They were His. To whom do you belong?
