1 LORD, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? 5b Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
This is a great list of what godly character looks like. Not a list of does and don’ts, but a list of what godly character, character that flows from a relationship with the Lord. Conduct, speech, relationships with others, justice, fidelity, truthfulness, trustworthiness, and honesty. Each of these areas demonstrates an inward quality. Some of us have weaknesses in some of these areas. For some of us, these weaknesses are pervasive. For some, they are only occasional lapses. Read the list again. What are the areas in which you fail? Are these consistent failures, or occasional slips? Either way, you need the Lord’s intervention. You have tried to get these things under your control, perhaps for years, but have failed. Maybe it is time that you surrender this area to the Lord, and allow His strength to take over. Then the change will come from a surrendered place, and your character will be changed. And when God changes your character, your actions will follow. Action that flows from internal change is lasting. Action that is painted on the outside will fade and revert back to the old ways.
