1Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge.
Safety is one of the most basic of human needs. We need to know that someone is there for us, that someone cares about us, that someone will help meet our needs. Without that safety we develop all sorts of coping mechanism that are not healthy. We might learn to push all people away from us, never trusting anyone. This leads to isolation and despair. Some people who don’t feel safe hold on so tightly to people that they choke them in the process. They seem desperate and alone, so they try to control everything and everyone around them. We need to feel safe, safe with each other and safe with the Lord. But it can be scary to let someone come in close. This can be true with God as well. It can be scary to let Him in close. He knows everything about us, after all. TGWWN
