5Jan 2011 Psalm 5:7

7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.

It is by God’s mercy that we can enter God’s presence. This has always been the case. It has never been by doing the right things that we are accepted by God. It has always been based on His mercy. So, today, when you are tempted to look at what you do and raise or lower your worth before God based on that action, think again. What we do does not raise or lower our value before God. God blesses us based on His character not ours. The final verse of this Psalm talks about the Lord surrounding us with His favor. This is not based on our character, but on God’s. His mercy is what keeps us, and his mercy will be with you today. Look for His mercy today, and act as someone who has received mercy. Give mercy. Stay in His mercy.
