12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
It is good to be reminded of the central truths of the faith. Even though I have been a believer for thirty four years, I still read and study the Word daily. I do this because I need to be reminded of the Truth. I am bombarded daily with falsehood and lies. I need the Word to counteract that barrage. As I struggle with human suffering and pain, I need to be reminded of God’s infinite love and of His plan for me. If I am not being reminded of the Truth, I might start believing the lies. I might start believing that I am much more important than I truly am. I might get so full of myself that there is no room for God in my life anymore. Just because a husband told his wife when he got married that he loves her, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t say it thousands of times down through their married life together. She needs to be reminded of his love, and he needs to say it. We need to be reminded of God’s character and purpose in the universe. Things are not out of control. Our world is not out of God’s control. He has a plan that includes a “total makeover” edition of the universe, one without sin. And those who believe in Him have an active role to play in that new universe. We are not over a planet, or in possession of 70 virgins. We are enjoying the presence of the creator of the universe. There will not be a boring moment. It will be beyond our wildest imaginations. And we need to remember this as we face the day to day struggles of this life. This place here is only temporary. It just prepares us for our eternity.
