26Dec 2010 1Peter 3:15

15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

The “in you” hope. Christianity is an “in you” faith. It is Christ “in you” who is the hope of glory. We must yield space in our inner being for Christ to inhabit, for Him to have control. We must step aside and yield to His direction and guidance. As we approach this coming year, with all its unknown challenges and blessings, isn’t it time to yield again to His ways? We must place Him as Lord, as Master, as the One in charge, if we are to call ourselves His followers. Nothing less than total surrender will work. You can’t wade in the shallow end of the faith pool and stay there. As you learn more of Him, faith requires that we exercise faith to a greater degree, because we know Him better. We know that He is faithful and will not lead us where His grace will not sustain us. When we make Him in charge of our lives, then opportunities for testimony will arise. People will be looking for answers, and we will be there to point them to Christ. We will be present with them in their questioning, and will have the answer because we have made space for His lordship in our own lives. And that will change everything. Panic and anxiety will subside. He is Lord. Fear and loneliness will dissipate. He is always with us. Our heads will rise and our outlook will become more like His outlook: hope filled.
