4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you,
This is where we land when we come out of the old life into a life in Christ. In a world that seems to have so many things going wrong, so many things that seem to change faster than we can keep up, it is good to know there is something solid we can grab onto. When we are delivered and land in our faith, we are on solid ground. Nothing can cause it to break down into smaller pieces rendering it unsuited for its original purpose. Nothing has invaded its space to make it unacceptable to the Holy God. Nothing can make the desirability of its contents to dim in that desirability. Our inheritance will always stand against any degrading affects of time or eternity. There is nothing in our inheritance that would cause God to turn His back on us. And our inheritance will always be the object of our desire, and of all creation’s desire. And we get this freely from God, because Jesus paid that price for us. He died in our place. Now our inheritance is safely stored in heaven for us to fully experience when this physical body dies. We get to begin to taste that inheritance now, enjoying its benefits as we walk in this corrupt world. Everything about this world is perishing, is spoiled and is fading. Nothing here is permanent. Nothing can be trusted. But our inheritance in Christ Jesus will stand. Since this is true, how silly is our pursuit for earthly stuff!
