24Nov 2010 Heb 11:3

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

The Lord did not use preexisting materials when He made the universe. He started from scratch. He made every part of creation. He created matter itself. We are reshapers, not creators. We take elements and move their parts around. Even the recent news story about scientists for the first time being able to “capture” antimatter momentarily did not create anything. They are simply working with what God brought into existence. God created all the stuff we call matter and antimatter for that matter. Before God spoke, there was nothing of this material universe. So since this is true, what does this say about us and about our future? If humans are the crowning of His creation, should we not yield even more fully to the One who created this universe for our habitation! He did not need the universe. He created it as a place for us to dwell. He wanted to share life with him, so He created this place and then created us with the ability to freely choose to worship Him. So today, as you look around and interact with the world, remember that all this stuff was created in an instant when God spoke. And someday God will speak again and it will be remade. All this stuff is temporary. It will all pass away someday. But our relationship with Him will last beyond this physical realm.
