29Oct 2010 Heb 2:11

11 Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.
Jesus added humanity to His being at the incarnation. Nothing was subtracted. He did not lose His divinity, He added something He did not have before. He did that so that He could do what we could never do for ourselves. He added humanity so that His death could erase our debt, the debt caused by humanity’s sin and our personal sin. He shared our feeble body so that the connection He had with us would be complete. He walked the road of temptation flawlessly, so that we could know it is possible to lean on Him and overcome temptation. We can be family, His family! We are no longer strangers, aliens, misfits, rejects, leftovers, miscellaneous, seconds, outcasts, or outlaws. We are family, accepted and loved. Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters. We are His immediate family. His family is not broken like so many of ours are. His family functions with love and acceptance. His family actually gets along with Him. There is always room at the dinner table, a fresh plate of food waiting. There is a warm bed and a toothbrush by the sink. He is not ashamed to call us family. So next time someone tries to shame you, remember that Jesus accepts us as family. Our earthly family may not want us around, but Jesus welcomes us into His. We can always be at home with Him.
