11Oct 2010 2Tim 2:1

1You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Be strong in grace. That is a strange combination. Be strong is something you can’t earn or deserve. Be strong is a gift given when we simply believe. Be strong in what God wants to pass through you life and with which He wants to bless the world. I could see being strong is something I had control over. I could build up my strength through exercise. But to be strong in something for which I get no credit is hard to grasp. I know that when we draw close to Him He gives us more grace. As we face difficulties He gives us more grace. Maybe we need to be strong in leaning in to Him. Maybe we need to be strong in not trying to do it on our own, in our own strength. It takes strength to continue to depend on Him. We need to be strong in His grace and not strong in anything else. It is His grace that will never let us down. A cheap substitute will leave us in the end. When you are in difficult circumstances lean on His grace. He is always there and He will always be there. His grace is always available to us if we will lean on Him. So, today, as difficulties arise, move toward the Lord rather than some substitute. He will provide the safety and security that you need. His grace will provide the strength you need to overcome any and every difficulty you face.
