15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.
If Jesus had a mission’s statement for His time here on earth, this would be it. He came to save sinners. He accomplished many other things, but this was the central reason He entered the world, taking on human form. We needed to be saved, and He alone could accomplish the task. Because the sins were innumerable, it took The Eternal Being’s death to pay for those transgressions. And there is only one Eternal Being. So He came. And because He came, lived a sinless life and freely gave it up for us, we can now be restored into full relationship with Him. This can be hard to believe, that God cared that much about us that He would come and sacrifice on our behalf. He didn’t have to do this, He chose it. He chose this path because He loves us. He wants a full relationship with us, and sin stood in the way of that relationship. Now that sin has been dealt with, we can enter into the kind of relationship He wanted us to have from the beginning of time. Sin can get in the way of our relationship with Him and with others even today. That is why it is important to repent, to come clean with Him. He doesn’t want anything to interfere with His relationship with us. He wants full access to us. Those in the military understand separation. They often spend a year apart from their families. Those times apart can place great strain on relationships. Communication can be difficult. Distance makes small problems seem greater. Misunderstandings that could get smoothed out with a hug, don’t get smoothed out. Sin acts like a deployment. It gets in the way of a full relationship. Deal with your sin today. Don’t let it linger.
