Indeed, you are our glory and joy.
Paul recognizes there are not many things that transfer from this realm to heaven. One of the few is our investment in other people, an investment made out of our faith in Christ. As Paul discusses his ministry with the Thessalonian believers, he recognizes the investment in them and their response to the Good News. They have responded in tremendous ways. They have reached out with their giving. They have responded to the message by jumping in with both feet. And this willingness gives Paul a reason to be joyful. They are also a reason for Paul to see the glory of God in them. It is God at work and not Paul.
