19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household,
Because Jesus has taken down every barrier there was between us and God, we can be in right relationship with Him. There are no second class members of God’s family. Either you are part of the family with all the rights and responsibilities, or you are excluded. No passport needed to reside there. No green card or student visa. When we become a Christian, all those walls are torn down. We are at home in God’s family. We don’t have to pretend to be something we are not. We can just be ourselves. But being part of God’s household means we are also of the same family at the owner of the house. We share character traits with Him. He is Holy, so we are holy and conduct our lives accordingly. We choose not to engage in things that would degrade us, show us to be less than God’s sons and daughters. We are not perfect yet, but our lives increasingly show God at work in us. We are a yielded people. We continue to submit to His guidance. We acknowledge Him as our Master, our Boss. He is in charge of our lives. We owe our existence to Him. And we don’t have a problem with Him being our boss. We know He has our eternal best in mind. There are no illegal aliens in His kingdom. There is no way to cross that border without the sacrifice of Christ paying for your sins. Only one way in: Jesus!
