2 For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
Some people view God’s work as always in the future. Some people see His work as something done in the past. Paul’s view is that God’s work is happening right now. Yes, the Lord worked in the past. The Scriptures are a record of some of those workings. We also read in the Scriptures that God will work again in the future in some mind-blowing ways. But we can’t change the past, and living in the future robs us of our present. We only have the present. We can expect God to work right now, in the present. He wants to work now. Are you willing to allow the Lord to work in your present? It can be very scary to trust the Lord in this moment. It means that we have to admit that we are not in control. I want to challenge you today. Look for God’s moving today. Expect to see His hand at work. It might be something out of the ordinary that happens. You might have a ‘chance encounter’ with someone you haven’t seen in a long time. It might be an ‘accident.’ Look for those unusual moments. Perhaps God wants to use your present for His glory. Look for Him today.
