18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
There is nothing that stands between the Lord and us. Moses wore a veil over his face after he returned from spending time with the Lord. The people could not take seeing his face glowing, reflecting the glory of the Lord. They were afraid of the glory that was reflected on Moses’ face. Today, our lives are an open book. People are able to see the Lord’s glory reflected in our lives. Or do they see something very different? Are we reflecting the Lord’s glory? Notice that we are to be in the process of being transformed into His likeness. We are not supposed to stay the same. We are supposed to become more like Him. Sin is supposed to drop away over time, and we are to pick up holiness in its place. When we first become Jesus-followers our lives are a mess. Over time the Lord transforms us. He changes us. We are not to stay the same. His Spirit works in our lives, cleansing us and remaking us. The old life is to drop away. Attitudes and actions that characterized the old sinful life are replaced with attitudes and actions reflecting the Spirit’s work. Remember, this is a process. The more we allow the Spirit to transform us, the more we will reflect God’s glory, the more people will see the grace of God in our lives. We will experience His grace and pass it along to others. Our lives will be like His. We will be servants willing to lay down our lives. Our lives will reflect His character.
