4June2009 1Cor 13:12

12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
When God’s Kingdom is fully realized there will be nothing to separate us from each other and from Him. All barriers will cease to exist. Everything will be clear. There is one thing I will never understand. I am sure you have seen those concave mirrors that are sold in stores that women purchase. Why would anyone want to see the imperfections in their faces magnified ten times? Isn’t it bad enough to have to spend all that time “painting the barn” without making the imperfections seem even greater! I found a website that allows you to retouch photos. You can eliminate the bags under your eyes, take away all the blemishes, undo the wrinkles and the extra weight stored under your chin. You can do all this with just a few clicks of the mouse. That is the kind of mirror women need! One that makes us look like the models in the magazines. As I have gotten older my eyesight has gotten worse. I now have to have my glasses on in order to shave well in the morning. If I don’t have the glasses on, I miss hairs. And because of my job, I can’t miss hairs. In my relationship to the Lord I don’t need my glasses. In fact, no matter how well my glasses correct my earthly vision, I still see the Lord with distortions. Someday all those distortions that are caused by sin will be eliminated. We will be able to see the Lord and understand Him just as Adam and Eve did. We will be able to be naked and unashamed. We won’t have to hide our blemishes. There will be no sin and shame, only openness and acceptance. I am looking forward to that day. My challenge is to be open to the Lord now, to not hide in shame, and to allow His Spirit to work fully in my life.
