35 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
Do you remember the old saying, “What goes in must come out”? I remember when our kids would swallow some small toy part. If it wasn’t too sharp, we didn’t worry about it. It would eventually end up in the diaper. What goes in…. The things we read and absorb with our minds will come out. If we read uncritically our textbooks in school you would believe that the fossil record is filled with transitional creatures proving evolutionary theory. The facts are that there are no transitional fossils. We never see a half this or that in a fossil. But what goes in, comes out. That is why it is so important to guard our hearts and minds. We must be filling them with Truth. When soldiers are in harm’s way their spouses are encouraged not to watch the news all the time. If they do, they end up in greater fear and anxiety. The constant diet of danger feeds the soul. I can’t take watching our politicians day after day spewing the same old lies again and again. If I watch it, I get very angry at the lies. When they can’t say “Islam” and “terrorist” in the same sentence, it gets me angry. We must speak the Truth. But if we don’t have the Truth going in, how can we expect Truth to come out! As a leader I cannot afford to only gather around myself those with whom I agree. I need opposing viewpoints to ensure I am not blind to the Truth. I don’t claim a corner on the Truth. I don’t believe in Manmade Global Warming. There is just too much money, my tax money, being thrown at it. The only reason Europe has any wind power is because it is subsidized by the governments over there. Follow the money. If the money were to go away, so would all the hype about Global Warming. The people pushing it are getting rich on the backs of the rest of us. Scientists get grants if their project studies Global Warming. If they want to study Global Cooling, no money. I digress. What we put in comes out. If we believe in unbridled Capitalism, we get greed and selfishness. If we believe in Socialism we get big government and entitlements. If we believe in the Gospel we get compassion and service. What are you putting in?
