25Apr2009 Exodus 25:9

9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

We are not allowed to be “Lone Rangers” in our worship of the Lord. We don’t have the luxury of worshipping any old way. The Lord prescribes some very particular details about worship for the Israelites. Remember, they have been slaves. They are just getting to know the Lord. They don’t have much history in worshipping Him. They have been influenced by their culture which included many false gods and many perverted worship practices. The Lord needs to create a new environment for them, so that their worship will accurately reflect His character. So, the Lord shows Moses a pattern, a master design, and Moses must follow that design. Moses does not have the option to add or subtract from the pattern. This is not like the house design books that are sold. You don’t get to start with a standard plan and make modifications. You must take the plan the Lord gives and follow it completely. You can’t add a little idolatry here and there, and have it be worship of the Lord. Moses must make it exactly like the pattern. We are to be made in the Image of Christ. We are supposed to be just like Him. That is the goal. We are to allow the Holy Spirit free reign in our lives, to mold and make us, purify and perfect us. We will only reach that goal when we reflect His pattern for our lives. We will only fully reflect that pattern when we are face to face with Him in heaven. We will have passed through the fire and everything that did not accurately reflect Him will be burned up. Then we will match Him. In the meantime, we are to allow Him to make us into that pattern. We must stop resisting His work.
