12 After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the LORD about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh.
Moses could have been left holding the bag. He told Pharaoh that the frogs would be gone tomorrow, and he did it without consulting the Lord. Now he is getting desperate for the answer. If the frogs are not gone Moses will be in big trouble. You see the Lord is teaching Moses. The Lord is stretching Moses’ faith. Remember, not that long ago Moses was tending sheep and talking to a flame. Now he is talking to the king of Egypt and making demands. Each of these steps is as much about getting the Israelites out of the bondage of Egypt as it is about giving Moses the opportunity to grow in his faith. As Moses trusts, his faith, his confidence, grows. Each of these steps stretches Moses and builds his understanding of the power of God. This same process is active in our lives as well. The Lord gives us opportunities to trust. When we trust we move a step closer to the Lord. But it also means that the next time the Lord asks us to trust it will be a bigger trust. He wants to grow our faith, our dependence on Him. He wants us to experience Him coming through in those tough times. When we are desperate and we see the Lord come through on our behalf, then we offer worship in a new way. We have the opportunity to surrender to a greater depth than we had before. And in that surrendering we grow. We grow weaker! We recognize God’s ability and our inability. We see God’s power and our insufficiency. We see how great God is and how small we are.
