3 The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs.

Frogs are cute when they are in a pond, or by a small stream. But when they are everywhere, and I mean everywhere, they lose their cuteness. Imagine having every corner of your house invaded by frogs. You open your front door and in they jump. You either have to stay locked up or fight a losing battle. Remember, this happens in a time before airtight seals on doors and windows. Most people don’t even have doors or windows. Whatever is outside can come inside. The rich have nets over their beds in order to keep the flying bugs away from them at night. The poor just have to put up with bugs. And now there are going to be frogs everywhere. And frogs jump! Imagine preparing food and having frogs jumping into the food you are making for your family. This plague will affect every aspect of their lives. Not a pleasant thought, is it! And these frogs are going to be everywhere. There are no class distinctions that prevent the frogs. Even the palaces will have frogs. Frogs jumping around Congress and the White House would be great, wouldn’t it? Youtube would get so many hits on those video shots. Have you ever started to collect something that seemed to take over your life? Cabbage Patch dolls were the rage when my daughter was young. I remember Pet Rocks when I was in school. I even remember buying things from the inserts in bubblegum wrappers. But I have run across some folks who let scrapbooking take over their lives. We have friends who let stamping consume them. Or fishing and hunting, boating, four wheeling, decorating…. You get the idea. Pharaoh and his magicians were getting carried away. The first plague was bad enough. Now they are getting ready to go overboard. Don’t let the frogs consume your life.
