15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:
A careful reading of the Scriptures demonstrates that the events of the New Testament are not only in line with the Old Testament, but that they are the outworking and fulfillment of them. The Old is not complete without the New. The New does not contradict the Old. They truly are one book from one Author. Anyone who tries to say that there are contradictions or inconsistency in teaching between the Old and New does not understand the Scriptures. They are in agreement. If we see contradictions or inconsistencies, it is our understanding and interpretation that is in error, not the Scriptures. This might mean that we have to live with some questions for a period of time as we study and come to understand the Scriptures more fully. And none of us likes to live with questions. We all want answers, and we want them now. And with the Scriptures some of the answers are not quick, easy answers. They take time to understand and digest. We have to understand history and physics. Because the Scriptures touch on so many areas of existence, we must study and be challenged by these areas of knowledge. I believe the more we study, the more the Scriptures fit with reality. The more I study, the more I see all realms of knowledge coming in line with the Truth of the Scriptures. At points of time in history scientific understanding put up a challenge to the Scriptures. But as time has continued, more and more science is demonstrating the accuracy of the Scriptures, not just the details, but also the big principles contained in them. Is everything in Scripture proven by science yet? Not yet, but it is moving in that direction. The Scriptures stand the test of time. Are you willing to be tested by the Scriptures? Are you willing to let the Scriptures test every belief that you hold? Let the Scriptures be your final authority.
