9Apr2009 Luke 10:22

22 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

If I want to talk to the President of the United States I must go through the proper White House channels. I can’t just walk in whenever I want to. I must be cleared and have an appointment. In fact, I someone wants to come and see me, there is a proper procedure. It is not as elaborate as the President’s, but there is still limited access. I don’t interrupt a therapy session unless it is life and death. Access to my family is limited. In fact, I know things about my wife that no one else knows and she has similar knowledge about me. Relationships have as part of their composition an element of exclusivity. We share certain parts of us with certain people and exclude others from that knowledge. That is just part of being human. Jesus and the Father have a unique relationship. They are both eternal God. Each has a role to play that is unique within the Godhead. The Spirit also plays a role in the Godhead, being also eternal God. Jesus acts as a gatekeeper to the personal knowledge of God. If you want to know the Father personally, you must know the Son and then the Son will reveal the Father to you. It is impossible to know the Father apart from the Son. In fact, only the Son knows the Father completely. This truth flies in the face of the relative truth being promulgated today. The “all religions lead to the same place” mantra that is popular is nonsensical drivel. Diametrically opposing views can’t both be true. There can’t be only one true God and at the same time be millions of true gods. Logic must be applied even to religious matters, or all of life loses its ability to have meaning. If there is no meaning to language, then I should stop writing because there is no way you can possibly know what I am saying, since my meaning is unique to my worldview, and it is impossible to share a worldview since meaning is individually determined. Jesus is claiming a position with the Father that is unique. We need to accept that truth.
