17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
As I close out this year, my first year of consistent daily writing, I have allowed you to get a glimpse of my inner struggle as I wrestle with the content of Scripture. There always seems to be a tension between the recognition of my sinfulness and the appreciation for the grace of God. I earnestly desire that sin would once and for all go on a vacation from my life, but as of yet, it still is vacationing too close to home. So daily I am faced with a deepening dependence on God’s grace. This year has been one of magnifying my understanding of my own need for forgiveness and restoration. If you are also struggling with sin, be of good cheer! The words of this verse were written for the both of us. “Come!” The only thing standing between you and this great loving God we serve is our own stubbornness and pride. I am thirsty for God. There is a deep longing, a thirsting that I know only He can satisfy. I am running toward God, wanting satisfaction. I desire the thirsting to cease, but I know that I must return again and again to His well. His water satisfies. I have one favor to ask, join me in my pursuit of Him. Don’t let anything stand in the way of true satisfaction. I have written about 120,000 words this year, that’s 230 single spaced pages! Thank you to those who have been here all year. Thanks to those who have joined along the way. And since I am not a drinker, I plan to get up tomorrow morning and start my second year of writing. I will be concentrating on Genesis, Luke & Acts, and the Epistles through Revelation again, reading a bit of each in the original languages each day. This is a challenge for me since my Hebrew is very rusty, but I feel the Lord pushing me to stretch myself again, as He did at the beginning of this past year. To what is God stretching you? Thanks for your comments through the year. If you have found this blog helpful, pass it along to your friends.
