27Dec2008 Rev 19:16

16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

He is the ultimate King and Master. All others are limited, temporal, temporary guiders. The most an earthly ruler can hope for is to be remembered! And so often they can’t even determine for what they will be remembered. What seems so unimportant at one point in history can take on added significance with the passage of time. The entrance into the world of a small infant in Bethlehem was ignored by so many and yet that person changed the world. It is very hard to tell what our impact on the world will be in advance. We can only choose to live our lives in a way that creates a consistent message that others can hear and emulate. Sometimes we get remembered because of one act that betrays our character. I have a relative who did just that. Benedict Arnold is a distant cousin. He is not remembered as the great general and contributor to our nation’s history, but as the traitor of an infant democracy. At this point in the Revelation of Jesus Christ, we see Jesus without any earthly hindrance. We see Him in his fullness. He is the greatest King and the Master of all masters. No power exists that is not subject to His rule. And in the coming pages we will read of the revealing of that rule. What has been hidden from our earthly eyes will be revealed. We will see Him as He actually exists. I am sure glad that I am on His side. I am part of His team. I would not want to be attempting to oppose His rule and strength. And the same is true today, right now. I am glad to be living in line with His will, flowing along with His strength. That does not mean I don’t take side trips born out of my own stubbornness and sinfulness, but my heart is seeking after Him. I am turning in His direction, desiring a greater awareness of His presence and will.
