22Dec2008 Rev 18:14

14 “They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’

There is coming a day when the final judgment falls on the inhabitants of the earth. Part of that judgment involves the economic system and the resulting collapse. We think our current flutter in economic fortunes are bad, but they are nothing compared to this future collapse. In a day, everything will fall apart. The value of everything will disappear. Gold worth nothing! The loss will be unbearable, their futures taken away in an instant. They will recognize in that moment the emptiness of their life pursuits. Possessions are worth nothing. They are meaningless. But are they to us right now? Or do we believe ‘things’ can bring us satisfaction? In a moment ‘things’ can and will disappear. In an instant they will lose their ability to fill the void. At that point, what will you do? What will you put in that void? A relationship with Jesus is the only remedy for this type of emptiness. The unexpected loss of a loved one can create such a huge void, one that alters the course of life. Often we question the love of God during the struggle to regain a footing. One word of encouragement, God did not take your loved one. Remember God’s design was for us to live in this world without sin and in intimate fellowship with Him. There would have been no separation of any kind if sin had not entered the world. Death happens as the result of sin’s presence in the world. When death happens, and death that is not part of God’s original plan, God receives us into His presence. He feels sorrow and pain when death occurs. His heart breaks in grief because none of that pain was part of His design. And the distorted position of ‘things’ in our life is also a result of sin. Our relationship with God and each other was to be the central and fulfilling focus of our existence. ‘Things’ can never truly satisfy. Only the pursuit of a restored relationship with God and others can satisfy that inner longing. Reach out today and connect.
