16Jun2008 Eph 3:16-17a

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

In our world of outward beauty and strength, God is concerned about our inward. In fact, He desires to apply His wealth and resources toward strengthening the inner you. And believe me, it needs strengthening! That is because Christ is going to live there, and fragile vessels make poor vessels for Christ. The source of everything needed in order to accomplish this task is the storehouse of God. There is no lack when God’s storehouse is opened. He is the One who spoke and creation itself got its start. He is both the ‘big’ and the ‘bang’ of the big bang theory. He is not some impersonal force, involved only in a remote sense. He is intimately connected to His creations. He has been involved at every step along the way. In fact, creation itself is following His master plan. Even when our sin enters the picture, He still has a plan, one that includes using the sin to make us better vessels where He can live. He is never taken by surprise by the creative nature that we have, our ability to invent new expressions of the same old sinful nature. He anticipated internet porn and made provision for deliverance from its deadly grip. The goal of all His work is the creation of a being who will willingly choose to surrender, willingly worship. This is a very difficult task. Yielding to the power of another penetrates to the core of who we are as beings created in the image of God. God is about the task of freedom. He can choose to do whatever He pleases and no one can question His decision. We too have the capacity to choose. Let us use that choice wisely, choosing to yield to the moving of God in our lives. The end result will be the indwelling of God Almighty in our lives.
