16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
What does it mean to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit? Air Force One is sanctified for the exclusive use by the President of the United States. Any time he wants to travel, it is at his disposal. The best flight crew is ready at a moment’s notice to carry him where ever he desires. It is fully fueled and completely maintained. The runway and airspace are cleared for takeoff and flight. There is nothing that prevents its use by the President. Jesus has accomplished everything needed for our eternity-life that started the moment we began our faith-in-action walk. Our sins are no longer counted against our eternity-credit score. Our spiritual credit limit is raised automatically as we step out in obedience. But what have we done with these riches? Are we at the exclusive use by the Spirit, or does our flesh get its flight time? Are we carrying baggage that prevents the Spirit’s moment-notice departure times to be delayed? Are we staying at the top of our spiritual maintenance schedule, prayer, Word, and fellowship, or would we have to go through a Jiffy-lube of the Spirit to get ready for Mission? The Spirit has a Mission and has provided everything needed for the Mission to be accomplished. The only thing lacking is our readiness to participate. Are you ready? If not, what is standing in the way?
