2 Thessalonians 3:2

I’m finding that not all “believers” are believers.

In some of the rest of my devotions I read in The Message this passage. There could be no truer message. Some claim, some practice. Those who have a living faith, a faith that mirrors what we see in Scripture, a faith reflected in the lives of others, a faith that changes our behavior to look more and more like Jesus in our flesh, those are the ones who are believers. We live in a world where so many have learned the right words, bought the right clothes, hung the right plaques, listened to the right music, that in a crowd it can be hard to tell the ‘real’ believers from these plastic ones. The only way to tell is to watch their character over time. Time will tell. When adversity comes, ego raises its ugly head, and the fangs come out in full force. Of course the mirror reflects our face as well. What are we like when adversity, injustice, sin happens and we are the victim? Do we look like Jesus?
