3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.
If you have been to a large city anywhere in the world you have probably been approached by a street vendor, someone trying to sell you a cheap knockoff of the genuine article. It might be a Rollex watch, or an Eyepod, or Gewchey purse. It can be hard to tell the difference between the fake and the genuine sometimes. You could even get fooled, if you were not careful. Or you could make the purchase knowing that you were getting a fake. I have heard some people make the mistake of comparing a ‘good’ non-believer to a hypocritical believer. Their purpose is to say that if the supposed genuine is lacking in quality, then they can refuse to give up their own self-righteous behavior. They are purchasing the fake. The question becomes for we who know the Author of Life, are we living true to our Name brand? Are we allowing the genuineness of His character to be worked into the fabric of our existence? Or are we hoping no one will notice the flaws in our workmanship, the repairs we have made hastily along the way to cover our sinful tracks? Get to know the Name, and His brand will be stamped on you.
Sorry for the delays these past two day, I have been ill.
