Romans 8:6

11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

A line from the movie What About Bob? comes to mind: “We’re all going to die!” I have heard it said like this, “Life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease.” Everyone’s life has a terminal ending. That is exactly what a mortal body is. It is one that is going to die. So if our bodies are going to die, is Botox really worth it? Because of an individual’s perspective on life, they can invest more in a body that is going to end up in a box in the ground than in their eternal dwelling. For the Christ-follower, someday our dead, lifeless bodies will get eternity pumped into them. But this is not just an event that takes place at the end of time as we know it. We get to experience this eternity on a daily basis as we allow the Spirit to live in us now. Just as a water pipe gets wet when water flows through it, so we get to experience eternity when the Eternal Spirit flows through us. And unlike the pipe, we get changed in the process. We are permeable. Eternity flows through our heart and mind, cleansing and changing us, replacing temporary, mortal thoughts and attitudes with eternal ones.
