Romans 4:21

What God promises, he has the power to do. Sometimes we think that our situation is unique, our problems are too great, our background too horrific for God to understand, let alone effect change. The more we look inward, the less we are looking at the power of God to be active in our lives. That does not mean every circumstance will turn out with our deliverance from discomfort or pain. It means that at the end of the day, the best will have been worked in and through our lives. Do we really believe that? If we did we could speak of our current sufferings as “light and momentary trials.” We too often even as Christians have the Western mindset that if it can’t happen in 23 minutes, excluding commercial breaks, then God is late. We need to keep the eternal timeframe in mind. Our vision needs to be actively looking to eternity as our clock for earthly events. Our chronic pain is only chronic during this short life. From eternity’s perspective, this is just a heartbeat, a negligible blip.
