Investment in destruction. I have learned the secret of compound interest too late in life. Now at age 50 I need to live to be 90 before I can reap the benefits of compound interest! I do think I will live to be 90, but I don’t want to have to be working at that age. I will by God’s grace be involved in ministry still, but I hope to not be bound by the paycheck. Instead of storing up money for the future, I have been investing in the present, investing in the Kingdom, investing in diapers, baby food, new shoes, paint & carpet. You get the picture. Life seems to call out to our wallets in a many-faceted manner. Our investment in eternity often gets put on the back-burner. And I am not talking money! If our lives are not reflecting the life of Jesus, then we are investing in destruction, or as Paul puts it “storing up wrath.” To the extent Jesus is not seen, we are slowly eroding our eternal reward. If we have not stepped into the Life, every act places wrath in our bucket, someday to be thrown in our face in judgment. If we experience the Life in us, then we have a reward and our choices either build or detract from our eternity with God. And the more we obey now, the more rewarding eternity will be. What is your investment strategy for eternity?
